tw32/tw5 sperm recorded after 5 minutes of swimming: The overwhelming majority of these sperm exhibit precocious hyperactivation (high curvilinear velocity and extremely low linearity [or vigorous, non-progressive movement]). This phenotype is required for fertilization, but generally is exhibited by sperm from +/+ animals much later on in response to an influx of calcium ions into the flagellum.
